Title: Beyblade - Heavy Metal Storm | Chapter 5
Chapter 5: The Alchemy of Corruption
(Narrator: Ray Kon)
The interior of the Black Forest castle was a mix of jarring ancient stone and cutting-edge technology. As we pushed past the shattered remnants of the heavy wooden doors, the damp smell of moss and decay was immediately replaced by the sterile, sharp scent of ozone and burning metal.
Tyson led the way, his hand resting instinctively on Dragoon's launcher clipped to his belt. I was right behind Tyson, his jaw set in a tight, uncharacteristic line, while Max covered our rear. Kenny walked in the center of our formation, his eyes glued to Dizzi’s screen, the faint blue light illuminating his anxious face.
"The energy readings down here are off the charts, guys," Kenny whispered, his fingers flying across the keyboard. "It’s a mix of raw spiritual energy, like what we felt during the World Championships against BEGA, but... denser.
"It feels artificial, heavy. Keep your eyes peeled," I cautioned, stepping down a spiral stone staircase that seemed to plunge into the very bowels of the earth.
"Kai said they were using the tablets to forge something new. If Krieger’s Toxic Fenrir was just a prototype, I don't want to know what the finished product looks like.", I said.
We descended for what felt like hours until the narrow staircase opened up into a massive, cavernous underground chamber. The sight before us stopped me dead in my tracks.
It was a laboratory, sprawling and nightmarish. Thick bundles of fiber-optic cables snaked across the cobblestone floor like black veins, all converging on a massive central platform.
There, suspended in towering cylindrical vats of glowing, viscous purple fluid, were the stolen BBA stone tablets. The ancient artifacts, which held the very origins of the Bit-Beasts, were clamped in heavy titanium vices.
"My word..." Kenny breathed, rushing toward a nearby command terminal overlooking the vats. He plugged a cable from his laptop directly into the console. Dizzi’s avatar flashed on the screen, her digital face twisting in horror.
"Chief, what are they doing to them?", Tyson asked, stepping up to the glass of the nearest vat.
"They're extracting the base spiritual code of the Bit-Beasts," Kenny explained, his voice trembling as he decrypted the files.
"Remember when Zagart created the Cyber Bit-Beasts during the V-Force tournament? He used digital data. But the Metal Monarchy... they are doing something far worse. They are using the original, organic source code from the tablets and pumping it full of heavy metal isotopes."
Kenny pulled up a holographic schematic of a Beyblade.
"They are creating forced mutations. By running a localized, high-frequency electromagnetic current through the stone, they fracture the ancient spirits. Then, they bind those fractured spirits into these new, hyper-dense alloys. The trauma of the extraction corruptes the Bit-Beast. It turns them into feral, mutated weapons that feed on friction and impact."
"So, they're torturing the spirits to make them stronger," I realized, a cold knot forming in my stomach. "And they're building an army of them."
"An army that will sweep the upcoming BBA World Championships and crown us the undisputed rulers of the Beyblading world," a voice echoed from the shadows of the catwalk above.
We all snapped our attention upward. A tall, slender woman with sharp, angular features and a lab coat draped over a metallic, dark-grey blading suit stepped into the light. Her eyes were a piercing, synthetic violet.
"I am Dr. Vesper," she announced, a cruel smile playing on her lips. "Chief Geneticist of the Metal Monarchy. I must thank you, Bladebreakers. Your arrival provides the perfect live-combat test for my latest creation."
She raised her left arm, revealing a launcher integrated directly into a heavy, mechanical gauntlet. She snapped a Beyblade into the prongs. It was an ugly, jagged thing, forged from a dark, iridescent metal that seemed to swallow the light around it.
"Let me take her, guys," Max said, stepping forward. His voice lacked its usual cheerful bounce, it was replaced by a grim resolve.
"Draciel and I are sick of people treating Bit-Beasts like science experiments."
Tyson and I nodded, stepping back to give him room. "Be careful, Max. We don't know what that thing can do."
"I've got this," Max said confidently, pulling his ripcord. He had spent the last week working with Kenny to upgrade his blade. His new Draciel Fortress, equipped with the experimental Aegis Core Defense Ring and a Hydro-Suspension Base, was built for absolute endurance.
"Three! Two! One! Let it Rip!"
Both Bladers launched. Draciel hit the steel floor of the laboratory's makeshift arena. A massive, concave depression in the center of the room, with a smooth, humming grace. It immediately took the center, surrounded by a faint, tranquil green aura.
Vesper’s blade, Venom Harpy, crashed into the dish like a meteor. It didn't hum, it screeched. The sound was akin to metal grinding in a garbage disposal. It tore around the outer ridge of the stadium in a jagged, erratic pattern.
"Tear that shell apart, Harpy!" Vesper commanded.
Venom Harpy dove toward the center, its Titanium Shredder Ring spinning at a terrifying velocity. It slammed into Draciel. The impact sent a shockwave through the lab, rattling the glass vats. Sparks showered the arena.
"Hold your ground, Draciel!" Max yelled.
The green aura flared into a dome of rushing water. But as Harpy ground against the barrier, the purple, corruptive energy from its attack ring began to seep into Draciel's water shield, turning it a sickly, toxic shade of violet.
"My mutated alloys are designed to siphon energy through resonance," Vesper laughed. "The more you defend, the more my Harpy feeds on your Bit-Beast's light!"
From the dark, spinning blur of Vesper's blade, a horrific screech echoed through the chamber. Venom Harpy's spirit emerged. It was a monstrous, metallic bird of prey, its feathers made of jagged, rusting razor blades, dripping with acidic purple venom.
"Draciel, now!" Max roared.
The stadium erupted in a geyser of pure, unyielding water. The Great Black Turtle of the water materialized, massive and imposing, its heavy green shell glowing with ancient power.
"You think a little corruption can break a bond this strong?" Max shouted, throwing his fist forward. "We've faced down BEGA, we've beaten the Psychics, and we're not going to lose to a rusty bird! Draciel, Tidal Aegis Smash!"
Draciel let out a deep, rumbling bellow.
Instead of maintaining the static shield, Max activated the Hydro-Suspension Base. Draciel began to vibrate, matching the erratic frequency of Venom Harpy, and then suddenly reversed its spin direction for a split second, creating a massive, localized whirlpool in the center of the dish.
The sudden shift in fluid dynamics threw Venom Harpy entirely off balance. The metallic bird shrieked as it was caught in the crushing undertow of Draciel's whirlpool. The corruptive purple energy was violently washed away by the sheer, purifying force of the ancient water spirit.
"No! The stability matrix is collapsing!" Vesper shrieked, frantically tapping at her gauntlet.
"Now, finish it!" Max commanded.
Draciel rose on the crest of a massive water pillar and slammed down directly on top of Venom Harpy with the full weight of its Fortress Weight Disk. The sound of shattering metal echoed through the lab. Venom Harpy's Bit-Beast dissolved into a cloud of black smoke, and the physical Beyblade burst into a dozen jagged pieces, scattering across the floor.
Draciel spun smoothly back into Max's waiting hand, its green glow warm and triumphant.
Dr. Vesper fell back against the console, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Impossible... the mutation data was flawless..."
"A Bit-Beast isn't just data," I said, stepping up beside Max. "It's a partner."
Before we could demand answers about Kai, a massive explosion rocked the far end of the laboratory. The heavy steel blast doors at the end of the hall warped inward, glowing cherry-red from intense, superheated flames.
Tyson grinned, pulling Dragoon from his belt.
"Looks like somebody's already busy breaking out."
Through the melting steel, the unmistakable roar of a fiery phoenix pierced the damp air of the dungeon. Kai was close, and he was already fighting.
