Title: Beyblade - Heavy Metal Storm | Chapter 6

Chapter 6: The Phoenix Reborn
(Narrator: Ray Kon)

The heat radiating from the warped steel doors was oppressive, practically baking the damp air of the dungeon into a suffocating sauna. Tyson didn't hesitate, he reared back and delivered a flying kick to the already weakened metal. The doors groaned, their molten edges giving way, and collapsed inward with a heavy, echoing crash.

I rushed in right behind him, Driger still humming warmly at my side, with Max and Kenny close on my heels. What we stepped into was an enormous, vaulted underground chamber that looked part medieval throne room, part high-tech laboratory. Cables snaked across the cobblestone floor, connecting humming servers to a massive, elevated stone Beystadium in the center of the room.
And standing at the edge of that stadium was Kai.

His trademark scarf, his face bore a few fresh scrapes, and his breathing was heavy, but his crimson eyes burned with an unyielding intensity. Across the stadium stood a towering man draped in a dark, military-style trench coat, his right arm fitted with a bulky, cybernetic gauntlet that served as a launcher.

"Kai!" Tyson yelled, stepping forward with Dragoon ready. "We're here! Tag me in, I'll take this guy to the cleaners!"

Kai didn't even turn his head.

"Stay out of this, Tyson. This one is mine."

The man in the trench coat chuckled, a deep, resonant sound that vibrated in my chest.

"Let your little friends help you, Kai. It won't change the outcome. I am Commander Richter of the Metal Monarchy, and my bit beast Aegis Gargoyle is the pinnacle of the ancient tablet's alchemy. It possesses a Density Shift Engine, a spin gear that manipulates its own mass to crush anything in its path."

"I don't care what kind of cheap parlor tricks your toy has," Kai spat, his voice cold as ice despite the blistering heat of the room.
"Dranzer is going to melt it down to slag. Let it rip!"

Richter launched his Beyblade with a hydraulic hiss from his cybernetic arm. "Let it rip!"

The two tops hit the stone dish with a sound like a thunderclap. Richter’s Aegis Gargoyle was a bulky, pitch-black Beyblade with a heavy, jagged Attack Ring made of the new energy-absorbing alloy Kai had warned us about. The moment it took the center, a dense, oppressive aura spread through the chamber. The very air felt heavier, pressing down on us.

"Whoa, what's going on with the gravity?" Max strained, gripping the railing.

"It's Gargoyle's spin gear!" Kenny shouted over the grinding of metal, rapidly typing on his laptop. "Richter wasn't lying! The Beyblade is generating a localized gravitic field. It's pulling Dranzer in and crushing its spin velocity!"

Down in the dish, Kai’s red and blue Beyblade, Dranzer, was struggling. Every time it tried to bank up the slope, the invisible weight dragged it back down towards Gargoyle, which sat perfectly still in the center like a black hole. When the two blades collided, Sparks flew, but Dranzer bounced off violently, losing momentum while Gargoyle remained completely unaffected.

"It's no use, Kai!" Richter sneered. "Aegis Gargoyle weighs ten times more than your bird while spinning. Your attacks are meaningless. Gargoyle, Gravitic Crush!"

A column of oppressive, dark purple light erupted from the black Beyblade. The spirit of the Gargoyle materialized above the stadium, a monstrous, winged beast made of jagged obsidian and glowing cybernetic veins. It roared, slamming its massive stone fists together, and the gravity in the dish intensified.

Dranzer's movements grew sluggish, the friction sparking wildly against the stone floor.

"Kai..." I muttered, stepping forward. I knew Kai's pride, but this was a losing battle against physics.

But Kai just closed his eyes and smirked. It was that arrogant, confident smirk that meant he had the enemy exactly where he wanted them.

"You think a few heavy rocks can hold down the sky?" Kai's eyes snapped open, blazing with fiery resolve. "You've forgotten one basic rule of nature, Richter. Heat rises. Dranzerrr!!"

Kai thrust his hand forward. The crimson Beyblade suddenly exploded with a blinding, superheated aura. The sheer thermal energy radiating from Dranzer began to superheat the air inside the stadium dish, creating a massive, violent updraft.

"What?!" Richter gasped, taking a step back as the heat wave hit him.

"The thermal expansion is disrupting Gargoyle's gravity field!" Kenny cheered, pushing his glasses up his nose. "Kai is using the extreme heat to create an artificial wind tunnel!"

Freed from the gravitational pull, Dranzer shot up the slope of the stadium, moving faster than the eye could track. It rode the edge of the dish, gathering an immense amount of centrifugal force.

With a deafening screech, the legendary Phoenix burst forth from the Beyblade. Dranzer was a vision of majestic, fiery destruction, its wings leaving trails of brilliant orange and blue flames. The Phoenix circled the cavern's ceiling, illuminating the dark stone, before diving straight down toward the obsidian Gargoyle.

"Tear them apart!" Kai roared.

"Defend yourself, Gargoyle!" Richter panicked. The Gargoyle raised its stone arms to block, but it was useless.
Dranzer slammed into the Gargoyle, its flaming talons sinking into the beast's rocky exterior. The Bit-Beasts clashed in a spectacular display of fire and shadow. The Phoenix unleashed a localized firestorm, wrapping the Gargoyle in a vortex of pure, unadulterated heat. Below them, Dranzer's attack ring slammed into Aegis Gargoyle with the force of a meteor.

The unyielding alloy glowed cherry-red, then white-hot under the friction. With a sharp, ringing and crackling sound, Aegis Gargoyle’s Attack Ring shattered. The pieces exploded outward, embedding themselves deep into the stone walls of the cavern. The Gargoyle Bit-Beast shrieked as it dissolved into digital static and ash, leaving Dranzer spinning flawlessly in the center of the dish, bathing the room in a warm, victorious glow.

Kai casually extended his hand, and Dranzer leaped from the dish, returning to his palm.

Richter fell to his knees, clutching his head. "My data... the ultimate defense... broken?", and he runs away with a frustrated glance towards Kai and Bladebreakers.

Tyson, Max, Kenny, and I ran around the stadium to Kai. Tyson threw an arm over Kai's shoulder, grinning ear to ear. "Man, you really know how to make an entrance, don't you?"

Kai aggressively shrugged Tyson off, though the faint trace of a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.

"You're late."

"Good to see you in one piece, Kai," I said, offering him a nod.

"But what about the tablets? Did you find them?", I asked Kai.

Kai's expression darkened. He walked over to the main console that Richter had been guarding and ripped a heavy, encrypted hard drive from the mainframe.

"I'm too late for the stones. They've already extracted the origin data and moved the physical tablets. But I managed to intercept their communication logs."

"Moved them where?" Max asked, his cheerful demeanor fading.

Kai tossed the hard drive to Kenny, who barely managed to catch it.

"They aren't just making prototype Beyblades in the shadows anymore. The Metal Monarchy have officially registered for the BBA World Championships. They're going to use the global tournament to unveil their 'Ultimate Synthetic' Bit-Beast. They want to crush the Bladebreakers on live television to prove their supremacy and sell this technology to the highest bidder."

The room fell silent. The BBA World Championships. It was our home turf, the place where we had bled and fought to become champions time and time again. Now, it was going to be a warzone.

I looked down at Driger, feeling the pulse of my partner and best friend resonating with my own heartbeat. The history of the Bit-Beasts was on the line.

Tyson slammed his fist into his palm. "Well, if they want a show, we'll give them one they'll never forget. Right, guys?"

I looked at Tyson, then at Max, Kenny, and Kai. We had faced rogue bladers, scientists, and world-class champions. But this was different. This was a fight for the very soul of Beyblading.

"Let's go home," I said, my voice resolute. "We have a World Championship to prepare for."
